Supply list for hand applique class
The guild is supplying a kit with a few supplies for you to take home. The kit is worth about $8.00.
Thank you Connecticut Piecemakers!!
Please, bring these supplies to class if you have them. Let me know if you don’t and I will try and help you out with what I have.
FABRICS: Refer to project picture. I will bring my fabric scraps for all to use
Background fabric: 13” x 14”. mark the vertical and horizontal centers by pressing or stitching the lines with a large basting stitch
Fabric scraps for: flowers, leaves (bring several choices and your leaves do not have to be green), flower circle centers, the bird, the bird’s wing, and stems - at least a 12” square for stems. I will have a couple of fabrics available for you to use. They do not have to be green.
Fabric for the scalloped “grass” or “border”: 4” x 10”
Fabric scissors
“Good” scissors to cut template plastic. Note your finished shapes will only be as good as your template was cut. I will have a few pairs for everyone to use.
Fabric marking pens or pencils you are comfortable using and you know will come out. I will have several for you to try.
Sharpie pens...fine and ultra fine. Again, I will have several to share, if you do not have any.
A thimble if you use one. A sticky reusable finger pad will be included in your kit.
A lamp. Good lighting is very important!
Don’t forget your magnifying/reading glasses. If you can’t see it, you can’t sew it!
An iron and ironing surface. There will be a few available for everyone to use, but it is helpful to have your own setup.
A cutting mat to work on: a 12” x 18” is good or an 18” x 24”
If you have favorite applique tools...threads, needles, glues. Bring them and compare your favorites with the ones supplied.
If you already have the items below, please bring them. If you do not have them I will have a few available for everyone to share. Please, do not buy these unless you know you will use them. Use mine!
Roxanne’s glue-baste it
Karen Kay Buckley’s perfect circles
A light box
Clover ¼” bias stem maker
80 weight thread or 50 or 60 weight 2 ply thread.
Thank you!
