Karen Eckmeier Lecture - Still Making Waves

Karen Eckmeier started making art quilts in 1996.  The quilts were well received in national and international shows encouraging Karen to make her hobby into an official business in 2002.  Teaching workshops across the nation gives Karen the opportunity to share with others her techniques of “Accidental Landscapes” and “Layered Curves” and her passion for playing with fabric.

For more information on Karen’s latest publications, a gallery of her students’ works, and other information, visit her website at

This technique workshop is an introduction to playing with Layered Curves and Peaks. Students will learn how easy it is to create a textured fabric with wild curves and dramatic points using Karen's layered/topstitching approach. You will be able to use your Layered Waves fabric in traditional or contemporary designs, as impressive borders, in eye catching wearables, market bags, and much, much more! All levels of experience are welcome as long as you are very comfortable with your sewing machine.
